Having a sitter come to your home, allows your pet to stay relaxed and in their natural surroundings. In their home, your beloved pets can continue their normal schedule and receive one on one care. It’s common for animals to feel anxious and nervous when they are placed in a boarding facility. It also avoids the hassle of having to drop off and pick up your pet if they were to be boarded. Being able to stay at home prevents the uneasiness some pets have when they are transported.
The meet and greet is a visit that allows the client and pet to become acquainted with their sitter, and understand the service. The sitter will get to know the client, and let their pet become comfortable with them. During this time, the sitter will confirm the important documents about the home and pet’s routine (e.g. vet information, emergency contact, special requests, etc.) and answer any other questions. We will NOT provide service until this meeting has occurred. There will be a $15 fee for the meet and greet. This fee covers the sitter’s time.

We accept payment through Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express.
No, we do not accept checks. However, clients can give cash to their sitters for gratuity if they would like. All services must be paid for by credit, and before any service is provided.
Cancellations for overnights may be made within three weeks of the scheduled visit, and you will be credited 50%. If cancellations are not made three weeks before the service, the payment is non-refundable.
Cancellations for dog walking and drop-in visits can be made 48 hours in advance of a scheduled visit. Your account will be credited for the charge of the service.
All overnight sittings are final through the week of Thanksgiving, December 5th– January 10th, and March 15th – April 15th. These bookings are non-refundable.
Steps with Pets acknowledges the following holidays: Easter, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, and New Year’s Day.
A $12 fee will be implemented on the listed days for walks and pet sitting visits, as well as the normal visit price. A $15 fee will be implemented for overnight sitting as well as the normal overnight price.
Steps with Pets is insured through Pet Care Insurance. We are happy to provide proof of insurance. We can email a copy of our certification.
If a pet has aggressively bitten someone in the past, we will not be able to provide service. If the pet is skittish around new people and growls a bit, we will be happy to work with the client to see if a pet care plan can be designed. Our sitter will interview the client and pet to see if this will work. If additional visits are required to socialize the pet with their sitter, then the client will need to be present at all visits and pay the normal service price until everyone is comfortable. If at any time the sitter or client feels it is unsafe to move forward, we will reserve the right to discontinue service at that time.
Due to the stress it can impose on pets, we strongly suggest you administer medications to your pet. If you are unable to, we are happy to administer any medications that can be placed into their food bowl. If there is a med that needs to be supervised, there will be a $10 service fee. We WILL NOT administer any medications that have to be injected.
If we believe something is wrong with your pet, we will contact you at the emergency numbers you provided. If you think there is something wrong with a pet, we will take them to a veterinarian’s office to be examined. If we are unable to reach you, we will determine if the veterinarian should see your pet. If necessary, we will take your pet for their safety. You will be billed for any extra time spent on these services.
